Microsoft’s Medical AI: a wake-up call?
A recent Guardian article reports on a new AI system developed by Microsoft that outperformed doctors in diagnosing certain health conditions during clinical simulations. According to Microsoft researchers, the model provided more accurate answers than general practitioners in many scenarios, with fewer incorrect diagnoses and stronger evidence-based reasoning.
The most striking stat? Microsoft said that when paired with OpenAI’s advanced o3 model, it “solved” more than eight of 10 NEJM case studies - compared with a two out of 10 success rate for human doctors.

So is AI replacing doctors now? Not quite. Even Microsoft emphasises that these tools are meant to support clinicians - not replace them. It’s about faster analysis, broader knowledge access, and reducing repetitive tasks, while critical decisions remain in human hands.
At Ulla, we believe in this exact model. Our assistant doesn’t replace decision-makers. It supports them - with insights, structure, and clarity that help teams do their job better. Whether you’re a public sector lead navigating complex projects, or an HR manager running back-to-back interviews, the power lies in knowing how to use AI - not fear it.
Technology like Microsoft’s diagnostic tool or Ulla’s meeting insights works best when people stay in control - and let AI fill in the gaps. Spot patterns. Surface signals. Save time.
The future isn’t AI instead of humans. It’s AI with humans - done right.
